Group Head of Sales and Business Development

Tonye Stephen Ukpong

Tonye Stephen Ukpong is Avon HMO’s Group Head of Sales and Business Development. She is responsible for developing and implementing sales growth strategies, seeking out opportunities and building connections, all geared towards expanding the sales team’s reach across the country.

Prior to joining Avon HMO, Tonye was banker for 23 years, having started her career with Diamond Bank Plc., where she held various roles before continuing in the capacity of Regional Sales Manager (Rivers) and back-up Directorate Head with Access Bank Plc (post-merger). In that role, she was responsible for overseeing the activities of over ten branches. Her oversight functions included developing new businesses through sales, driving liability and profitability through asset creation and fee earning transactions, enhancing customer experience, in addition to supervising other activities of the Branch Heads to drive performance and staff efficiency.

Tonye holds a BSc in Computer Science and Mathematics. She is also a certified Systems Auditor, an associate member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and a fellow of the Institute of Economics.
